What is an Art Bike?

An art bike is a bike that is altered or at the very least added on to in an effort to create a kinetic sculpture. It's art and engineering coming together! It's putting the Arts in S.T.E.A.M! The only limits here is the designer's imagination!

Beginning this semester (Spr. 2015) and thanks to a grant from the LISD Education Foundation, Liberty High School now has it's own Art Bike Club as part of it's MegaLunch offerings for students. This offering is for both A and B Lunches on Monday and Tuesdays in the Art Room (124) and will meet after school on Mondays and Tuesdays as students are available to work on building components that need more time. Students can participate whether they have an idea or would just like to help with one.

For those completed before April, these kinetic sculptures will participate in the Houston Art Car Parade! So mark your calendars to come and support the LHS Art Bike Club because..."On April 11, 2015, nearly 300 jaw-dropping cars, bikes, skater and motorized creatures will roll down Allen Parkway, from Waugh Drive to Bagby and blow the minds of 300,000 spectators!" Check out http://www.thehoustonartcarparade.com/ for more information.

But the fun won't stop there... even after April, the Art Bike Club will continue to create new marvels and will be out and about so stay tuned for more exciting news!
