If All PD could feel like Summer Camp!

Do you ever tend to hyperfocus on something? Well, I do. The first couple of posts I mentioned
a possible 5 preps this year! Thank you, God, that is no longer my reality. But prior to Aug. 4, it was and my mind was in overdrive. So, knowing I needed to refocus, I made a decision to focus on art for the week as I had signed up for a week long workshop at the Museum of Fine Art's Glassell School. It was just what I needed.

Day 1: A trip to the museum, Collage, Picasso drawing, & a Selfie
Day 2: Photo Transfers of Day 1's artwork
Day 3: Encaustics... melting crayons is so much more fun than breaking them!!!
Day 4: Assemblage & Emotional Paintings
Day 5: Abstract Art Booklet & Trading Cards

As our facilitator, Jason's goal was that we would leave creatively exhausted at the end of each day! It worked. I made so much art and so many new friends!

Note to Administrators: Professional Development can and should be more like Summer Camp!!!

Welcome to LHS Art Tech!

Let's start with a little bit about me! I am a graduate of Texas Christian University, Fort Worth. I have a double degree in art / graphic design and business / accounting. I previously worked as a graphic designer in a corporate office; and now, I am a second year teacher. I love to learn always have and probably always will. And becoming a teacher is a great education. This next school year, I will be expanding my skill set and my schedule will include Art 1 & 2, Graphic Design, Adv. Graphic Design, and possibly computer science. Yes, 5 preps to all my teacher friends! Deep Breath...Breathe in and hold...5, 4, 3, 2, 1...Breathe out!

This blog is intended to document the journey that has been thrust upon me like the demigods of old... if only Hephaestus were here! Although if he was, my life might be put in danger on a more regular basis and I wouldn't want that.

The journey before me should prove to be interesting to say the least and utterly amazing to say the most! STEM to STEAMing full-speed ahead here I come!
